My Life in Versailles

Summary

Violette is an eight-year-old Parisian girl who has just lost her parents. Now, in accordance with their final wish, she must go and live with her uncle Régis, who is responsible for maintaining the majestic Palace of Versailles. Violette cannot understand their decision: he is as big as a bear, he smells bad, and he doesn’t even speak to the rest of the family!

Living together is far from easy at first, but the secrets of Versailles, the antics of her friend Malcolm, and a Christmas trip to her grandparents’ house will help her get to know her uncle better, overcome her grief, and discover that a family of two can be wonderful too.

Based on the 2019 short film, My Life in Versailles is a bright and tender story about grief, mutual support, and second chances.
