Clara de Frutos

Art director and concept artist for animation. Comic book author. Clara began working in animated film in 2018, on the Irish film Wolfwalkers (2020) and has since specialised in colour and background design; she made her debut as art director with the Catalan studio Teidees on the films La furgo (2025) and Jasmine and Jambo, the Movie (2026).

She also studied Fine Art and illustration for children’s books and later came across the life of the poet Concha Méndez, a member of the Generation of ’27, and decided to turn her biography into a comic: Vanguardia es una mujer (2024), for which she won first prize in the “El Arte de Volar” scholarship and the Breakthrough Author Award at the Barcelona Comic Fair. She also teaches on the animation degree course at Voxel School. She is currently working on her next comic and on a script for an animated film that she hopes to produce one day.
