VIVABOOK Lab is the first screenwriting lab in Catalonia dedicated exclusively to adapting literary works for film and television aimed at children audiences
Led by Mi Primer Festival, the lab launches its 2026 call with a clear goal: to support working screenwriters and help develop projects with real potential within the children’s audiovisual sector.
In a context where specialised training and resources for high-quality kids’ projects are still limited, VIVABOOK Lab provides the tools to understand the child universe from an emotional, narrative and industry-focused perspective—helping creators build stories that truly connect with children.
With this new edition, Mi Primer Festival strengthens its commitment to creating and supporting quality content for families, building bridges between the publishing and audiovisual worlds to spark new productions.
Call for projects 2026
The VIVABOOK Lab 2026 call opens on Monday, 9 March 2026 and will remain open until Thursday, 10 April 2026 at 23:59 (GMT+1).
The lab will select 5 projects (short films, feature films or TV series) at an early stage of development. Projects can be animation or live action, and must be conceived specifically for children audiences—while the source material may come from children’s or adult literature.
Selected projects will receive a €3,000 grant per project. By the end of the programme, participants must deliver a treatment (for feature films and series—pilot episode) or a full script (for short films).
Adaptations may be based on public domain works or on works under copyright, provided there is a prior relationship or negotiation and, when required, a letter of interest from the rights holder.
