VIVABOOK Lab: The first laboratory that promotes audiovisual adaptations for children's audiences
VIVABOOK Lab is the first scriptwriting laboratory in Catalonia dedicated exclusively to the adaptation of literary works for film and television aimed at children. Promoted by El Meu Primer Festival, this program was created with the aim of offering specialized training to scriptwriters who want to explore the creative possibilities of the children's audiovisual sector and encourage its production in Spain.
The laboratory becomes a response to the lack of specific training for active screenwriters and the difficulties in accessing resources that promote quality children's projects. With this initiative, VIVABOOK Lab offers the necessary tools to understand the children's universe from both a narrative and emotional point of view, favoring the creation of stories that connect with the little ones.
With this laboratory, El Meu Primer Festival reaffirms its commitment to the creation and dissemination of quality children's content, contributing to the enrichment of the audiovisual landscape in Catalonia and Spain.
Call 2025 The call for participation in VIVABOOK Lab 2025 will open on May 8, 2025 and will remain open until Wednesday, June 12, 2025 , offering the opportunity to present their projects to screenwriters interested in writing for children's audiences. The program will host five projects , which may be short films, feature films or television series, and which will have specialized support for five months.
The selected projects will receive a grant of €3,000 to boost their development and the screenwriters will be able to work in Catalan or Spanish, in both animation and live-action formats. At the end of the process, participants will have to submit a treatment in the case of feature films and series (in the latter case, corresponding to the pilot episode), or a complete script in the case of short films. The projects may be children's adaptations of pre-existing literary works —both children's and adults— in the public domain or of works with current rights, provided that there is a relationship or prior negotiation with the author.
