Manolo Galiana

Manolo Galiana

Animator and director
Spain
Manolo Galiana's passion for animation and drawing began when he saw the film Bambi at the age of 6: he was so impressed that he felt the need to do what he saw on the big screen. It was not easy for him to break into the world of animation, however, so he combined an engineering course with drawing and film studies.

After that, he continued to learn, working for great artists such as Carlos Alfonso and Juan Pina (The Flintstones). For 15 years he worked for the big animation companies and legendary directors like William Hanna (Tom and Jerry). He developed in line with his profession, adapting to digitisation, although always remaining faithful to traditional 2D animation.
In 2022 he received a lifetime award from the Film Academy to go with the many accolades and nominations he has garnered for his participation in animated films such as Chico and Rita (Fernando Trueba, Javier Mariscal and Tono Errando, 2010), The Illusionist (Sylvain Chomet, 2010) and Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles (Salvador Simó, 2018).
