Jara Yáñez is the director of Caimán Cuadernos de Cine (formerly Cahiers du cinéma. España), where she has worked since the magazine was first launched in 2007. She also teaches on the Master’s Degree in Film Criticism at the ECAM film school and regularly contributes to the TVE programme Historia de nuestro cine. She has written books on film production, screening in original version with subtitles and Spanish short films, as well as contributing pieces to publications by various authors. She has had two spells on the DocumentaMadrid programming committee (2009-2011 and 2017-2019) and has been on the short film selection committee at the de Alcalá de Henares Film Festival since 2011.
Moreover, her personal interest in enabling younger viewers to enjoy film has led her to curate two audiovisual seasons for children under the Reina Sofía Museum Museocinema programme, as well as children’s sessions at the Madrid en Corto celebration of short films. Finally, she works regularly with the Platino Educa educational platform and the EducaFilmoteca programme.
